The Filipino Choir of Australia is an organisation of talented Filipinos who are dedicated to promote the Filipino culture through choral music.

Founded by Choir Master and Conductor himself, Ben M. Noynay, the choir is in its organisation stage. Application for membership is now open and can be completed online via our website. Full membership of one of the choir categories (see Choir Structure below), is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2019.


Ben M. Noynay is a graduate of San Carlos Seminary College, Cebu City, Philippines with Bachelor of Arts Degree Major in Philosophy and English. He taught Music, Philosophy and English at the University of the Philippines College Cebu for seven years. Ben and his family migrated to Australia in 1991. Basically a mixed choir with SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) structure, members are further classified according to age groups.

  • Children's Choir (7 - 12 years old)

  • Youth Choir (13 - 17 years old)

  • Young Adult's Choir (18 - 25 years old)

  • Adult's Choir (26 - 37 years old)

  • Mature Adult's Choir (38 - 50 years old)

  • Senior's Choir (51 years old and above) 


The initial desired number of members for each group is 20. This number might increase to 40 as the choir grows down the track.


"Every Filipino knows how to sing" is the most common expectation of Australians from Filipinos. Our founding philosophy is to provide every member of the Filipino Choir of Australia an opportunity to live up to that expectation to the highest possible standard in the field of choral music.


  • The primary objective of the Filipino Choir of Australia is to establish an official Filipino representation in the community of choral music in Australia by presenting an annual concert in one of the major music venues in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Queensland, Canberra, Northern Territory and Tasmania.

  • The secondary objective of the Filipino Choir of Australia is to engage in paid performances for various occasions such as weddings, birthdays, funerals, church services and other social gatherings.

  • The third objective of the Filipino Choir of Australia is to commercially produce choral music albums such as a Filipino Christmas Album, a Collection of Filipino Love Songs Album, and other projects as maybe relevant later in the choir's journey.


As an official member of the Filipino Choir of Australia, your involvement covers the following areas:

  • Attendance in weekly choir practice and music education classes (days and time vary according to Choir Category).

  • Attendance in studio recording sessions for album production (days and time TBA according to Choir Category and Voice Classification).

  • Attendance and participation in an Annual Concert to be performed in one of the major music venues in Melbourne (for all Choir Categories).

  • Attendance and participation in interstate or overseas concert tours (open to qualifying members).


As an official member of the Filipino Choir of Australia, your investment, aside from your time, covers the following:

  • A weekly fee for your choir practice and music education classes. This fee is payable 10 weeks in advance. The amount varies according to Choir Category:

    • For Children's Choir - $5.00 x10 weeks =$50.00​

    • For Youth Choir - $6.00 x 10 weeks = $60.00

    • For Young Adult's Choir - 7.00 x 10 weeks = $70.00

    • For Adult's Choir - 8.00 x 10 weeks = $80.00

    • For Mature Adult and Senior's Choir - $10.00 x 10 = $100.00

  • A fee of $50.00 per hour for studio time during recording sessions for album production. The total amount will be determined by the total number of hours consumed during the recording session, and shall be equally divided among the members who are participating in the recording session.

  • The cost of costume/attire to be used during annual concerts is entirely your responsibility.

  • The cost of travel and other personal expenses during interstate or overseas concert tours are entirely your responsibility.


As an official member of the Filipino Choir of Australia, you have an opportunity to learn how to maximize your gift of voice that God has given you by learning from Ben M. Noynay, the Choir Master with more than 40 years experience in both music and business and has taught and trained more than fifty choral groups over the years.

The weekly choir practice is not just a choir practice. During the first 12 weeks, you will be learning how to sing professionally in a choir environment where you will be trained how to improve your vocal range and enhance your vocal quality. You will be taking a full course on Vocal Music Education created and designed by Ben M. Noynay himself. This course has helped choral groups win competitions.

Secondly, once you become an official member of the Filipino Choir of Australia, you will have the opportunity to participate in an annual concert to be presented in one of the major music venues in Melbourne and in other key cities in Australia.


  1. Register your interest by completing an Online Registration FormSubmit a non-refundable Registration Fee through our online secure payment facility. This amount will be credited as your annual membership fee when your application is finalized.

  2. The amount varies according to your Choir Category.

    • For Children's Choir - $10

    • For Youth Choir - $20

    • For Young Adult's Choir - $30

    • For Adult's Choir - 40

    • For Mature Adult's Choir - $60

    • For Senior's Choir - $50

  3. Once your payment is received, we will send you a confirmation email with details on day, time and venue for choir orientation, practice, music classes and other relevant information.

  4. Attend the Choir Orientation Day and welcome to the Filipino Choir of Australia.
